Is it Friday YET???
First of all, I have to give props to my fiance, as we went to see “Wicked” the musical, and he has never seen a Broadway production musical before… and he loved it! How could you not though, Wicked is great! This was the second time I had seen it, my mother and I went several months ago and we saw the current Broadway cast who was on tour at the time, including Carol Kane and the guy who played Steve on Married with Children. Most of those were understudies for the original Broadway Cast (Idina Menzel, Kristen Chenoweth, Joel Gray, etc.) so needless to say they were spectacular. The production here was still great, but it was definitely better the last time - but I’d see that show anytime, anywhere. After seeing the show, my fiance said that he wanted to see other shows, so woohoo!!! I miss getting to go with my mother to shows, that was our thing, as we are the only ones in the family that enjoy that - my sister falls asleep and my stepdad hates to go, so basically Mom and I are the cultured ones. We’d make it our little adventure whenever we went. I remember we had 3rd row seats to Beauty and the Beast, which was incredible, fireworks and all, would love to go again. We saw The Scarlet Pimpernel in a theater with HORRIBLE acoustics (but I still like that show), Jekyll and Hyde, The Music Man, RENT, you name it. Our last shows before I moved were The Producers, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Wicked - talk about a killer line-up. TMM was hilarious, as was Producers. Those are great memories with Mom that I will never forget, and I love that it was just her and I going, great bonding experience. Ever since RENT the movie came out, she has been obsessed - we went to see the movie twice before I moved away, and I got her the soundtrack which she plays over and over in the car, haha (I hate to admit it, but I do that too sometimes).. now she’s stuck on the Wicked soundtrack, and the future hubby and I bought her a shirt at the show, which I will have to give to her when we take a family trip this summer.
Me, my stepdad and Mom are going to New England to go sailing around Cape Cod for a week - pretty cool huh! They went with my little sister and her friend last summer through the Carribbean, which I had to miss out on as I was finishing school (blehhhhh) so I was totally bummed that I didn’t get to go the last time. I am excited that I waited though, as this trip should be great. I was reading that the wildlife up in that area of the ocean is thriving this time of year, and the sail shouldn’t be as aggressive as the Carribbean, so my parents say. They also sailed during hurricane season last year, so no wonder it was a rough ride. Anyway, I wish the fiance could go, but he has to work. Although he will be missed, I’m sure it will still be a fun trip.
Anyway, I am still awaiting Friday… this has been a lonnnnng week. And today and tomorrow should supposedly be long as well. We just had a meeting about all the things we need to work on this week and next week, and since so many people are out, guess who gets to stay late and finish most of these projects? You guessed it, yours truly.
Speaking of those projects, I had best get back, so here are my lists and have a “Wicked” great day!
